Taekwondo bags gold and bronze medals, Athletics bronze in 100m

Tierra Lynn Chargualaf walked into the Taekwondo venue in the Solomon Aquatics Center and walked out a gold medalist in the -53kgdivision.  Chargualaf earned her gold medal via a 2-1 decision over Erika Jean Maetia of Solomon Islands.  Amber Toves took bronze in the -57kg.

The 100-meter women’s final took center stage at the Solomon Islands National Stadium with Team Guam’s Regine Tuagde-Watson in the top tier of the qualifying heats.  Tugade-Watson went head-to-head with Isila Apkup of Papua New Guinea as Georgia Harris of Australia blazed through the field of eight elite athletes.  Harris finished the race in 11.70, as Apkup clipped Tugade-Watson for the silver by 0.06.

In tennis action, top seed Camden Camacho and Danny Llarenas will play for the doubles event bronze medal as they dropped their match against Fiji 4-6, 6-1, 10-6.

With the medals hauled in by Taekwondo and Athletics, the total medal count is 5 gold, 4 silver, and 3 bronze.
