Saturday, 15 April 2018 – Maite, GuamThe GNOC Medical and Anti-Doping Commission met on Saturday, April 15, 2018 at the GNOC 2nd floor conference room to discuss programs and elect commission leaders. The group adopted the commission’s Terms of Reference and were kept abreast of upcoming activities. Dr. Luis Cruz, MD, will lead the commission alongside his duties as Board Member of the Pacific Games Council Medical Commission, Oceania Regional Anti-Doping Organization and East Asian Games Council Medical Commission. Physiotherapist Chris Fernandez will co-chair the commission. Dr. Arania Adolphson, MD, was elected to the post of Secretary. The Compliance Committee will be chaired by Dr. Gregory Miller, DC. Dr. Anna Cruz, DNP chairs the Programs Committee along with co-chair by Jessica Takai while Dr. Julienne Duenas, PT, DPT chairs the Public Relations Committee. Joey Miranda III represents GNOC’s Executive Board on the commission.The commission also discussed the upcoming Anti-Doping presentation which will be held prior to the 8th Micronesian Games. At present, Guam has two certified ORADO Doping Control Officers, Dr. Cruz and Joey Miranda III who will lead the upcoming presentations and required WADA tests. The ORADO certified chaperones include Dr. Anna Cruz, Jessica Takai and Joaqin King. The GNOC Medical and Anti-Doping Commission is established to act as an advisory body for the GNOC Executive Committee on all medical, related sports science and anti-doping matters. The composition of the commission includes a total of no more than nine (9) executive members and will include an athlete’s commission representative.
