Nine professionals from Guam including a member of the Oceania National Olympic Committees registered for the Oceania Sport Education Program Master Educator course. The course was held on May 25 and 26, 2019 at the Guam Nation Olympic Committee 3rd floor conference room. OSEP Coordinator Sainimili Saukuru worked closely with Regional Master Educators Jubilee Kuartei of Palau and Joey Miranda III of Guam to conduct the advanced course.
The diverse group included a Doctrine and ICECP graduate, multiple master’s degree holders, Regional Federation President, National Federation executives, educators from all three school sectors on island including Guam Department of Education, Department of Defense Educational Attainment and the private schools; and an IT specialist.
The participants were assessed on their competencies in creating lesson plans, different styles of delivery techniques and other OSEP oriented modules. Thereafter, the Master Educator prospects facilitated the Olympic Solidarity Sport Administrative Course along with the Management of International Sports Organization held from May 28 to 31, 2019 at the same venue. This event was attended by an audience of approximately thirty National Federation executives of GNOC.
The first of four pathway courses will allow the Master Educators the ability to deliver and facilitate OSEP courses in Administration, Coaching, Team Manager and Trainers. The group will work together to design the certification program of the Guam National Olympic Committee in Coaching, Officiating, Team Management as well as National Federation operations. They will assist in the development of Athlete’s entourage such as the commissions.
The Master Educator participants include Dr. Mike Rabago ICECP graduate, Oceania Wrestling Federation and Guam Wrestling Federation President Tony Aquino, GWF and Marianas Judo Federation Secretary-General Mariano Aquino, Guam National Athletes Commission Vice Chair and Guam Cycling Federation Vice President Tara Tydingco, Guam Triathlon Federation Secretary-General Melanie Torre, Guam Swimming Federation Head Coach Donald San Agustin, Guam Basketball Confederation coaches Brent Tipton and Reggie Guerrero and Oceania National Olympic Committee Consultant Sitiveni Tawakevou.
