Wednesday, July 18, 2018 – 9th Micronesian Games, Yap Marina, Yap, FSM
Underwater Fishing’s recognizance of the zones enabled them to dominate the 2018 Micronesian Games spearfishing field. Michael “Todd” Genereux reeled in a total of 177.5 pounds from his 24 speared fish earning him the gold in the individual competition, 44 pounds ahead of Palau’s Luis Ongalibang who was only able to spear six.
Michael Cassidy brought in the second most fish speared at nine along with a 40.5 catch but was 16 pounds shy of the bronze.
The team event was a no-contest as the trio of Genereux, Cassidy and Raymond Flores’ combined catch was 133.5 more than the second-place haul from Pohnpei.
